Icebreaker Produces Perfect Travel Collection
June 9, 2008
Innovative New Zealand outdoor merino apparel retailer Icebreaker is producing the ultimate travel collection -- two garments that make it easy to pack and go lightly.Icebreaker’s core seasonal collection for spring/summer 2009 is Superfine Journeys, a lightweight system of fine layers designed to travel across seasons and continents.
Customers will be able to minimize their packing and maximize the versatility of their travel wardrobe by buying just two garments – a short-sleeve Superfine Ultralite top to stay cool and odour-free in the heat, and a long-sleeve Superfine Lite top for evenings and colder conditions.
Superfine Ultralite breathes as well as cotton but won’t hold odour, while Superfine Lite is cool in the heat and warm in the cold.
Icebreaker’s premium merino, grown in the pristine Southern Alps of New Zealand, is the ideal summer fabric because it turns moisture into vapour and dissipates it gradually through the fibre. While synthetics feel clammy, ultra-breathable merino keeps the body dry and acts as a buffer against changing temperatures.
Merino’s natural anti-bacterial properties enable garments to be worn for several days without washing. The fibre doesn’t itch, feels as light as silk against the skin, is machine washable and dries in a flash – making it perfect for travellers.
Superfine Journeys includes garments featuring stunning prints and graphics inspired by nature in New Zealand and South America.
An Icebreaker team road-tested Superfine Journeys in Brazil, where its Spring/Summer 09 catalogue was shot. The range performed exceptionally well, withstanding both the tropical heat of the Amazon rainforest and the rigours of filming in the urban jungle of San Paulo.
Best of all, merino is a natural fibre – renewable, biodegradable and sustainably-produced.
